HONORARY BUYBOAT CAPTAINS
Ask about the Chesapeake Bay Buyboat Association’s (CBBA) yearly cruise and scheduled functions throughout the Chesapeake Bay and tributaries. We provide a part of history in real life by bringing our buyboats to different ports to support your planned functions.
E-Mail to find out which buyboats are located close to you. We will help you find those that will be able to support you in your effort to provide a part of history at your planned function. Find out what is required from you to have buyboats at your functions.
The larger buyboats have a maximum draft of six feet with some having a maximum beam of twenty feet. The largest one is in Florida with an overall length of eighty four feet to the smallest in Virginia with a length of forty five feet. Most of the buyboats on the Chesapeake are between fifty five to sixty five feet in length, with a draft of no more than six feet.
Each of the owners are proud of the buyboats and are happy to have visitors aboard for a show and tell about each boat and what they provided to the oyster industry.
The nothern fleet covers buyboats located in New Jersey, Deleware and Maryland.
The souther fleet covers buyboats located in Virginia to Florida.
The Chesapeake Bay Buyboat Association will list your events on the Associations Event page to help promote activities that are water related at which buyboats might be able to attend. This will let people know if any buyboat/deckboat will be attending the activity which you are providing.
